"Non mais t'as vu ce que t'écoutes au tango #1 - Fueron tres años *

Dumb and unserious lyrics review. (Heavily inspired by LinksTheSun's NMT . Though not reaching the same level. No, I didn't misspell, that's really his nickname...)

I usually cannot make complete abstraction from lyrics when I hear songs. I do not speak Spanish. I am only fluent French and English, then I decently understand Dutch and Italian. But that's enough to understand some Spanish songs after a few hearings. Some translation engine may help with the remaining words.

No me hablas, tesoro mío,
Kind of a warning on what's to come:
Gollum: 'My precious!!!'
No me hablas ni me has mirado
This does not sound like a good start, I doubt she is even listening...
Gollum: 'I'm not listening!'
Oh! Gollum again! No more Gollum, we promise.
Fueron tres años, mi vida,
tres años muy lejos de tu corazón
Wow!? Three years? Well, if she's been ignoring you for three years, maybe it's time to move on.
¡Hablame, rompé el silencio
I guess she doesn't feel inspired... you know you cannot force inspiration.
¿No ves que me estoy muriendo?
If you think you have been dying for three years, it's probably not that bad. Maybe you can survive another fifty years, medically speaking. But visit a doctor just in case.
Y quítame este tormento,
Aaah, she's sooo cruel! And all that... Succubus by Dan Scott
(In case you ask, that's a sadistic succubus.)
Porque tu silencio ya me dice adiós
If she ever said "adios", I have a feeling she said so a looong time ago.
Or maybe she didn't? OK, I know that some women go away without saying goodbye or without ever giving any rational explaination. I don't think it's there right way to do. There are theories on the Internet that say it's not right, so it's probably not right ;-) I guess some men do that too, though I never dated a man.
But that won't help the song getting more logic.
¡Qué cosas que tiene la vida!
¡Qué cosas tener que llorar!
Man, have you tried coffee? Seriously? Just don't drink too much of it. 'Smiling coffee
¡Qué cosas que tiene el destino!
Don't be so tragic! Let's suppose you'd get together now. Within a few years, you will be divorced. In the best or worst scenario depending on how you see it, you will be fighting about who keeps the children, and the dog/car/house/... in theory she will always keep the cat. And you will both die alone in from of you computer or your television anyway. That's destiniy!
Será mi camino sufrir y penar
"You oughta know you are not alone as the masses of Humanity will always, always have to suffer (Whenever I hear this I think "supper", which is also true, probably). But, hey ... The more you suffer, the more it shows you really care, right? Yeah." Music that was cool in the '90s - Combo!!!
Well, sorry, it also says that you are "just a sucker with no self esteem ..."
(Wait, no! It's not something about Michael Jackson but "You are not alone" has NEVER been cool!)
Pero deja que bese tus labios,
Un solo momento, y después me voy
No! WTF? You spent the entire song telling her that you cannot live without her, and now "a kiss and then that's enough". Or "how to go from kind of noble feeling that's supposed to drive your whole destiny down to short-lived physical aspirations" in a few lines, as you will leave after it...
This sentence reduces the meaning of the whole song to a lighter version of "Una noche mas".
'Sisyphus meets Indiana Jones
Y quítame este tormento,
Porque tu silencio ya me dice adiós
Maybe she simply doesn't speak Spanish. Have you thought about that?
Aún tengo fuego en los labios,
You got ulcers, herpes or something? Or you regularly cut yourself while shaving? Not sure you should put it in a song, that's not very romantic.
Del beso de despedida.
¿Cómo pensar que mentías,
Yeah, it was a three years lie, it was a joke. She's got such a sense of humor!

Si tus negros ojos lloraban por mí?
No! At this point of the song, I guess there is no doubt, she's not crying "for you". It's more likely that, if she is crying, she is crying "because of you". Or for unrelated reasons.

Conclusion

Well, I think it's OK if you are still in love some years after, it happened to me.
BUT regarding this song, in the best case, you have not been in contact for three years, but then you cannot pop up like that and cry and pretend like a non-sense that you are dying.
In the worst case, you have been like that for three years and possibly wrote others songs... But then this is the song of some kind of patheticly desperate stalker.
A third possibility is that you pop out of silence exactly every year on some anniversary date. But then you are really a weirdo.
Other than that, it's a beautiful song. I think its biggest problem is the three year gap it is based on. Depending on context, three weeks or three days could make more sense, three month could be OK in some cases... but three years, that's much too long.

However, there is a big flaw in my analysis. Do you see it?
